Established over three decades ago, Powerhaus operates as Wellington's dedicated independent specialist for Porsche and European vehicles from its Thorndon location, five minutes from the CBD. Owner Reuben Smith, an A-grade technician who purchased the business in 2009 after completing his apprenticeship there in 1994 and gaining experience at London's HR Owen Sports Cars, leads a skilled four-person team. The workshop maintains expertise across German, Italian, British, French, and Swedish marques including Porsche, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Saab, Volvo, and Skoda. Services encompass routine servicing, complex repairs, auto-electrical diagnostics, WoF certification, pre-purchase inspections, classic restoration, and race-car preparation. Senior technician Reuben Lithgow specialises in engine and gearbox rebuilds and has supported multiple Targa entries. Apprentice-trained technician Alex Heffield completed Level 5 EV automotive engineering and focuses on advanced electrical diagnostics using modern scan equipment.
