Established over four decades ago, The Engine Room operates from Palmerston North's central district with a team of four technicians led by owner Richard Dann. His extensive background spans apprenticeship through to senior BMW service management roles, supplemented by international automotive experience. Peter Weir brings engine machining credentials and ten years specialising in European vehicles, alongside deep motorsport involvement as a competitor and scrutineer. Thomas Stannard joined after completing formal pre-apprenticeship training and actively participates in local racing events. Cameron McLean arrived from Possum Motorsport with broad automotive knowledge and rallying interests. The workshop handles Warrant of Fitness inspections, routine maintenance, major mechanical work, and classic vehicle restoration. While BMW servicing represents a particular strength, the team competently manages all marques from Alfa Romeo through to Vespa scooters. Motorsport preparation, setup consultation, and technical guidance feature prominently in their service offerings. The collaborative approach emphasises continuous skill development and hands-on problem-solving rather than formulaic procedures.
