I purchased over $500 of RUC at VTNZ Silverdale. I only had paywaves on me, debit not credit. There was a 2% surcharge totalling over $10. I asked who gets that money and the lady said they did. Tax on top of tax. So bad, that should be illegal!
In response to your reply, what a totally pointless comment. I know you have a surcharge, I had to pay it. If your cared about my experience you would not have charged it!

First of all the receptionist at VTNZ Silverdale was amazing. She was so kind and efficient. She help calm my nerves that I had going into my restricted test. Then I had my test with Mark G. He was so friendly and kind. His instructions were so clear and he was very reasonable with any clarification I required. Mark really helped me feel at ease and I am so happy to have had him as my testing officer. Very excited with the result. Thank you VTNZ Silverdale.

I just went for my full licence test at VTNZ Silverdale and I got “David T” as my testing officer. He was very polite and a pleasant person to talk to. He made sure I was at ease and felt comfortable with anything I was unsure of before starting my test.
I passed with no problems! I am very stoked. 10/10 experience.
Thanks again VTNZ 😊

Great Staff, always a quick turn around going on week day. Failed a WOF on body work but they are just following protocal, staff explained exactly why and what was needed, past flying colours. Always my go to.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review for Driving Testing Officer - David T
I recently completed my full driving licence test with David T, and I want to express how impressed and grateful I am for the experience.
From the very beginning, David was calm, respectful, and clear. He took his time to explain the entire process in a calm and reassuring manner, which made a huge difference, especially compared to my previous testing experience. He also acknowledged that English is my second language, and made it very clear that the purpose of the test is to evaluate my driving, not my English. This alone made me feel more comfortable and confident.
Before the test began, he explained that at different points he might ask me to describe the hazards I saw, and what actions I would take. He told me this was not to test my English, but to help me gain more points and show safe awareness. He also explained that once he was satisfied with my answer, he would let me know when he is satisfied with the answer. This set the expectations perfectly.
During the test, David continued to be calm, patient, and very clear.
He:
* Gave instructions at the right time
* Used hand gestures when needed
* Never rushed me
* Never confused me with sudden commands
* Always explained what we would be doing next (“Next we will test this… next we will do that…”)
Every instruction, whether a turn, a maneuver, or a hazard explanation, was communicated with clarity and enough time to prepare. This helped me focus on driving safely instead of feeling pressured.
At the end of the test, David calmly explained the areas where I could improve in the future. Nothing serious, just helpful feedback. Only after explaining everything, he let me know that I had passed.
I want to make it very clear that I’m not writing this review just because I passed. Even before knowing the result, I felt that David treated me fairly, respectfully, and professionally. I genuinely appreciated the entire experience. Passing the test was wonderful, but what made me the happiest was being treated with fairness and respect throughout the process.
David also told me that I am safe for the road, which meant a lot to me.
I’m extremely happy with the whole experience and very thankful for his professionalism.
Highly recommended.
David is exactly the kind of testing officer every learner hopes to have.
Thank you David T 😊
